Open Source - Closed
Minds - Challenges to the current legal environment in accommodating
open source
The law and legal practitioners in general
have often taken a suspicious stance in addressing IP in the
open source arena. The nature of open source with its seemingly
promiscuous approach to sharing of intellectual property rights
coupled with the various iterations of licences governing
the usage of open source content today has led to this guarded
approach. Rajesh will seek to provide a snapshot of the current
legal challenges and provide a way forward in taking a more
accommodating approach to open source from a legal perspective
in the context of the 21st century Zeitgeist.

OpenSolaris - Ten Moves Ahead
Solaris 10 is the most advanced operating system ever built.
With more than 600 features, it is the most efficient, secure,
and reliable operating system in the market. Sun Microsystems
has made the source code for Solaris 10 available under the
OSI (Open Source Initiative) approved Common Development and
Distribution License (CDDL). Millions of development hours worth
of code and over 1,600 patents are being contributed to the
open source community. Sun knows that innovation happens everywhere.
Sam Tan, a Solaris Ambassador, will be sharing what Solaris
10 can bring to you. And, how far we -- together -- can take
it.
